NASHVILLE, TN- The Baylor Swim Club will sent five athletes to compete in the 2017 USA Swimming Futures Championships held August 3-5 at the Centennial Sportsplex- Tracy Caulkins Compeition Pool in Nashville, TN. This meet will featured some of the best 18 & Under swimmers from southeastern part of the country.
Leading the way for Baylor was fourteen year old Ellie Waldrep. She swam to a second place finish overall in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:04.26. She also placed 8th overall in the 200 meter backstroke. Waldrep also broke 13-15 Baylor Swim Club team records in both the 100 meter backstroke and 100 meter fly events. The 100 backstroke record was previously held by Arden Pitman that was set in 2008, while the 100 fly was held by Stephanie Napier that was set back in 2002. Her teammate Jamee Mitchum also had a fantastic meet. It was highlighted by her performance in the 200 backstroke taking 12th overall in the event in a time of 2:22.74. Going into this meet both Ellie and Jamee were seeded 48th and 49th in the the 200 meter backstroke.
