INDIANAPOLIS, IN- On day one of the 6th FINA World Junior Championships Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athlete Trey Freeman swam to a bronze medal in the 400 meter freestyle. Representing Team USA, Freeman swam to a new personal best time of 3:50.14 in the event. Team USA put two athletes on the podium as teammate Andrew Abruzzo claimed gold. Freeman was also the anchor leg of the men's 4x100 freestyle relay that took fourth overall.
Representing Team Barbados, Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athletes Jack Kirby and Luis Sebastian Weekes also had some strong performances on Day 1 of the World Junior Championships. Jack Kirby swam to a new personal best time of 57.63, and was also the winner of heat four to take 23rd in the event. Luis Sebastian Weekes swam the 100 meter breastroke in a time 1:06.78 good for 44th overall.
Both Trey Freeman and Luis Sebastian Weekes will take to the pool again on Day 2 of the 6th FINA World Junior Championships. Freeman will swim the 200 meter freestyle while Weekes will compete in the 200 meter IM. Preliminaries in Indianapolis will begin at 9:30 AM CST, and will stream live on FINA TV via YouTube.
