HUNTSVILLE, AL- This past weekend (July 20-23, 2017) over thirty Baylor Swim Club athletes competed at the Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championships. Over 1,100 athletes from the states of Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida competed at the brand new Huntsvile Aquatic Center in Hunstville, AL. Leading the way for the Aqua Raiders were some outstanding performances from rising senior Trey Freeman, rising junior Addison Smith, and fourteen year old Ellie Waldrep.
Trey Freeman took Southeastern titles in both the 100 backstroke and 200 IM events. His times in both the 200 fly and 200 IM are also new US Open time standards. On the senior girls side, Addison Smith had an outstanding meet. She swam to a second place finishes in both the 400 freestyle and 400 IM events. Her time of 4:23.94 is also a new team record in the event. Fourteen year old Ellie Waldrep had an outstanding meet as well. Waldrep swam to a Southeastern championship in the 200 backstroke, and finished second in both the 100 backstroke and 50 butterfly events.
